Vintage Louis XV Style Giltwood Chair

A vintage Louis XV style gilt wood side chair. The chair has a scalloped back embellished with a hand painted courting scene, with carved seashell borders and scrollwork top rail, along with openwork cartouches to each side of the painted scene and a pierced back splat with scrollwork and decorative floral motifs. The arms terminate with scrollwork ends and the cabriole legs have ribbed detailing, the legs terminating in French feet with brass casters. The chair has a rich garnet velvet upholstered seat.
