Item Details
A Southern late Federal walnut sugar chest-on-frame, probably Kentucky or Tennessee, circa 1820-1840. The dovetailed case features a rectangular, hinged lid with applied edge molding opening to a divided interior. It is attached to a molded frame with a single, dovetailed drawer, the front of which is fitted with turned knobs before poplar linings. It rises on block-and-turned, tapered legs ending in ring-turned cuffs.

- to fair; lid with some scratches and a light ring stain near front, right corner; underside of upper case, drawer cavity, and drawer secondaries with white-washed surfaces; drawer knobs probably replaced; other various scratches, marks, and imperfections consistent with age and use; structurally stable.
