Finely Hand-Knotted Sino-Persian Wool and Silk Area Rug

A finely hand-knotted Sino-Persian wool and silk area rug. This rug is rendered in a palette of ivory, wine, taupe, mauve, slate, olive, rose, cornsilk, indigo, and apricot. The ivory field features an ornate design of scrolling vine-work comprised of palmette, floral, and leaf motifs. Framing the field is a main wine grounded herati border, along with floral meander guard borders. Finishing this rug are overcast selvedges and a cotton warp fringe to the ends. It is labeled ‘China’.
