Item Details
A hand-knotted Persian Kashan floor mat. This wool pile rug is rendered in a palette of mauve, olive, emerald, and ivory. It commences with a quatrefoil medallion comprised of floral motifs and flanked with arrowed pendants. The curvilinear field is populated with swags of buds, blossoms, and foliage, and grounded by layered spandrels. Framing the field are reciprocal guard borders, while the primary border displays a geometric pattern over ivory. The mat is finished with overcast selvedges and cotton warp fringe. It is unlabeled.
