A Banks Cold Stone Co. secretaire desk is a High Point, North Carolina replica of a George Hepplewhite two piece secretaire bookcase. It is crafted with both solid and veneered mahogany. All of the drawers are dovetail constructed. The fold down hinged top has leather insert which has been gold leafed by hand. Two keys are present that works on the two upper cabinet doors which are detailed with an arch of applied wood molding . When opened they reveal six on each side, dovetail constructed drawers with brass pulls on center. The center of cabinet has a wood framed door with glass insert which opens with the key. Two adjustable shelves are present. The drop down hinged writing surface also doubles as a false drawer front. Several storage compartments and drawers enhance the fitted interior. The case is seated on bracket feet.
