An oil painting on canvas titled Summer on the Hudson by well-listed American artist Douglas Arthur Teed (1864 – 1929), created in 1886. This work features a pastoral landscape with a calm river in the background, portrayed in a Hudson River School style with meticulous detail and delicate sfumato. The work is signed ‘Arthur Teed’ and dated to the lower left. It is presented in an elaborate gilt and gesso frame with scrolling foliate molding. A descriptive label from the Patricia Weiner Gallery is adhered to the verso.

Regarded as an American Romantic and Orientalist, Douglas Arthur Teed studied and traveled extensively throughout Europe, northern Africa, the Near East, and India. His work has been collected by multiple institutions including the Arnot Art Museum, the Southern Alleghenies Museum of Art, and The Newark Museum, among others.
