A vintage hand-knotted Persian Viss long rug. This wool pile rug is rendered in a bold colorway of crimson, indigo, denim, tangerine, emerald, plum, and white. It is centered with a chain of bold medallions, each infilled with geometric motifs and alternating in form. The elongated field features an inward facing border of hooks and is sparsely populated with rectilinear bird forms, rosettes, and cruciforms. Framing the field is a primary border consisting of a leaf and blossom pattern over crimson, while the guard border displays a reciprocal design. The rug is finished with overcast selvedges and cotton warp fringe. A label to the reverse reads ‘Made in Iran’.
