Item Details

A William L. Gilbert Louis XV Style gilt metal mantel clock. This clock has an ornately designed embossed metal case featuring floral and scrolling foliate motifs throughout in a gilt finish, mounted on a reticulated footed base. The white ceramic clock face is housed behind a hinged glass front set in a brass bezel, displaying black Arabic numbers, two key arbors, and a third for speed control with hand-painted flowers and gilt-work. The clock has a spring driven 8-day movement and strikes on the hour, and the mechanism is marked ‘W.L. Gilbert Clock Co.’, ‘U.S.A.’.
