A 19th-century lithograph with hand-coloring by J. T. Bowen (1801 – 1856) after John Woodhouse Audubon (1812 – 1862), titled Dusky Squirrel, no. 24 and plate CXVII from the folio The Viviparous Quadrupeds of North America by John James Audubon, published in three volumes during 1845, 1846 and 1848. The image depicts the titular animal poised mid-step on a thick pine branch in the wilderness. The print is mounted under matting and glass, and is housed in a burled wood frame, equipped to hang.
