A handmade West African Dan style mask made in the Ivory Coast. Dan masks play various important society roles including serving as spiritual and social symbols. This mask is in the style of a Gunyege, or racing mask.

Condition

- wear to black finish on mask, particularly around eyes; discoloration to fabric and fiber; dust and accretion throughout; white marks, surface wear and chips to the verso.
