An American Renaissance Revival oak savonarola chair, attributed to John Brown, early 20th century. This chair depicts a smiling and blowing North Wind on the crestrail, with carved lion head finials, a formed curule fixed seat, floral cavings below the seat, and lion paw feet. Unmarked.

Provenance. According to the estate appraisal documents dated 1998, this chair was made by John Brown, maternal great grandfather of the current owner. It is one of two made. One was exhibited at the 1904 World’s Fair in St. Louis.
