Antique Georgian Cut Glass Wine Rinsers ca. 1800-30
Item Details
A selection of antique cut glass wine rinsers or monteiths. Two of the 19th century hand made pieces feature repeating cut arches below the parallel spouts to the clear glass forms. The remaining rinsers present star cuts to the undersides with fluted designs of varying heights and double spouts. The Georgian period pieces were used to rinse wine glasses between courses during a full-course dinner since wine pairings changed based on the dish. They were produced between 1800-30 and have no visible maker’s marks which is typical of wares of the time period.
