Chinese Erotic Pillow Books
Item Details
A set of three Chinese erotic pillow books titled Erotic Pictures (春宮圖 Chungong tu). These hard-sided books are hinged to the edge and fold open to reveal full-color illustrations of couples in erotic embraces. The books are of late twentieth-century production and feature erotic colorful offset lithographic prints adhered to an accordion style book. Pillow books were traditionally given by a mother to her daughter on her wedding day, to teach a young bride about love making. The books have leatherette covers with title pastedowns to their fronts, and are unmarked with publisher or artist names.

Condition
- minor wear to books at edges, with some discoloration to paper on front covers. Water damage to the edges of each book, with discoloration from this damage to tops, bottoms, and edges of pages. Fading and discoloration of images consistent with age and long-term storage.
