Vintage Hand-Knotted Turkmen Bokhara Wool Area Rug
Item Details
A vintage hand-knotted Turkmen Bokhara wool area rug. This rug is rendered in a heavily abrash palette of custard, cranberry, indigo, carnation, and black. The custard hued field is overpopulated with a lattice of Tekke guls and kurbage guls, while framed in a main rosette border. Helping frame the field are guard and minor borders in designs of guls, ram’s horns, and laleh abbasi. Finishing this rug are overcast selvedges and a wool warp fringe to the ends, as well as sewn-one rings to the underside of one edge. It is unlabeled.
