Circa 1930s T. C. Gleason Knights of Columbus Ceremonial Sword
Item Details
A circa 1930s T. C. Gleason Fraternal Knights of Columbus ceremonial sword. This decorative work features the bust of Christopher Columbus to the grip cap facing left. The bust of Columbus replaced the Flying Eagle as the grip cap on these swords in the early 1930s and the first generation of Columbus grip caps had the bust facing left, which dates its manufacture to the 1930s. This sword features a decorative crossguard with a sculpted dove, cross, and globe motif to the center and a black grip. The blade features an etched design with ‘T.C. Gleason Chicago ILL.’ and ‘Knights of Columbus’ to one side. A decorative scabbard with traditional fraternal symbols is included.
