A 1797 hardcover edition of The Constitutions of the Sixteen States Which Compose the Confederated Republic of America, published by Manning & Loring of Boston. This is the first edition, published to commemorate the ten year anniversary of the 1787 ratification of the US Constitution. It features numerous important American political documents including the Declaration of Independence, Articles of Confederation, the 1783 Treaty of Paris ending the Revolutionary War, and the state constitutions of the sixteen states existing at the time of publication. It is bound in a full leather and is printed on laid paper. It features an applied label to the spine, and a hand-written ownership inscription to the second flyleaf.
