Antique Wedgwood Jasperware Jardinière, Circa 1891-1915

An antique Jasperware jardinière by Wedgwood. This planter is embellished with the forms of six Greek muses, each accompanied with instruments befitting their affinities. Portrayed are Calliope, Clio, Euterpe, Melpomene, Polyhymnia, and Urania in relief. The mouth is encircled with a floral meander while the shoulder bears lions with rings in their mouths, each separated by swags of grape vines. The underside is impressed ‘Wedgwood, England’ alongside a ‘T’ and figural mark, placing production between 1891-1915.
