Antique J.C. Deagan Four-Note Dinner Chime

An antique J.C Deagan four-note dinner chime. A well-known name in musical percussion, John Calhoun Deagan (1853-1934) produces xylophones and other instruments, such as this, under the name “J. C. Deagan Musical Bells, Inc.” from 1913-1916. This petite chime has four metal notes set in a mahogany frame and sound box. The paper label identifies the company and lists patents up to 1917. Impressed in the wood reads “Deagan Plate Chime No. 10”. Also included is a striking mallet.
