A vintage hand-knotted Ardekan Kashan wool palace sized rug. This rug is rendered in a slight abrash palette of scarlet, indigo, ivory, saffron, sky blue, fern, tangerine, taupe, and peach. The scarlet hued field is ornately designed beginning with a central pendant medallion, while densely filled with an array of floral and foliate motifs, with added palmettes throughout. Framing the field is a main indigo grounded stylized herati border, along with a series of floral guard and minor borders, and a pair of laleh abbasi strips as well. Finishing this rug are overcast selvedges and a fine wool warp fringe to the ends, along with visible blue weft threads to the underside. It is labeled with approximate dimensions to the underside.
