Vintage Hand-Knotted Persian "Archaeological" Kashmar Wool Area Rug
Item Details
A vintage hand-knotted Persian archaeological Kashmar wool area rug. This ornately designed rug features a pictorial design, and is rendered in a palette of navy, ivory, wheat, cranberry, sky blue, bright green, bright pink, and sapphire. The over populated field begins with a large central diamond medallion and is accompanied by vases, bowls, urns, and an abundance of scrolling floral and foliate motifs throughout. The field also features navy blue grounded spandrels infilled with exquisite birds and more floral and foliate motifs, as well as cartouches along the edges infilled with inscriptions. Framing this field is a floral meander guard border, along with a wide border to the ends featuring large palmette forms with vases, and elaborate flowers. Finishing this rug are newly wrapped selvedges and a warp fringe to the ends. It is labeled to the underside.
