Antique Ruby Flashed Candle Holder with Portrait of Naser al-Din Shah Qajar
Item Details
A vintage ruby flashed candle lustre featuring a footed brass base embellished with pyramidal glass prism crystals and upturned glass globe with scalloped rim. The globe is accented with a cranberry flashed foliate motif and bears a transfer image of Naser al-Din Shah Qajar (Iranian, 1831 – 1896), King of Persia between September 1848 and May 1896, being killed by an assassin. On the other side is a cartouche having the emblem of Iran in a stylized version of the Lion and Crescent (Shir-o-Khorshid). The lustre is unmarked.
