Two compositions on mat boards titled The Girls and their Prince and Abstract 1 by Cincinnati-based artist Sara Boyd (20th/21st century), both created in 2015. The Girls and their Prince features an abstracted male figure flanked by two female figures, surrounded by stars and hearts. The work is portrayed with vibrant colors, loose forms and gestural strokes. It is faintly signed to the lower left, and signed ‘SB’ and dated to the lower right. To the verso are a few descriptive labels providing information about the work, a short bio on the artist, and information about Visionaries + Voices. Abstract 1 features an array of abstract structures portrayed with simple geometic shapes, vibrant colors, and gestural strokes. The work is signed ‘SB’ and dated to the lower left. It is mounted on a white surface and presented with white matting. To the verso are also a few descriptive labels providing information about the work, a short bio on the artist, and information about Visionaries + Voices. Both compositions remain unframed.

Sara Boyd’s strength as an artist is in her style and productivity. She has spent time working with acrylic paint, watercolor, paper mache, and other mediums but prefers the control and texture of colored pencil and crayon. She effortlessly glides around the page and creates images representative of pop culture ephemera, personal experiences, everyday objects, or abstractions along these themes. Her boundless work exhibits not only her output but also her consistency in design. Each piece is characteristically hers, from block shape constructions, gestural expressions, the bold candy-inspired color palette, the fraying outline of an object in motion, the perspective which both warps to and from the viewer, and her characteristic ‘speed’ can be seen throughout each piece. An artist at both locations, Boyd has become an indelible facet of Visionaries + Voices.
