Item Details
A brass-bound rosewood lap desk with satinwood and ebony stringing, 19th century. The case features a rectangular lid centered by a blank, brass presentation plaque and opening to a pair of hinged, leather writing surfaces with tooled and gilt accents. Along the front edge of the interior are four compartments, one of which retains the original pen tray. Further decorating the exterior is satinwood and ebony stringing along with a pair of brass bands, which run the across the lid and down the façade.
