Tyler Spohn is an illustrator working with images from photographs and popular culture. He produces original gouache paintings that contain direct, frontal compositions, fine lines and immaculate details. He eliminates any unnecessary elements, often omitting backgrounds in favor of solely representing his subjects. Value is flattened into solid color, giving his work a graphic quality similar to Thiebaud or early 20th century commercial artists. A quiet observation and attention to subtle features are revealed in his inked line work. Spohn is an emerging artist that has notably shown in Superheroes Rise Up and All Aboard! at the Cincinnati Museum Center and the Joy Factory in Los Angeles.
