Japanese Tanba no Kami Yoshimichi Katana in Leather Sheath

Item Details

A Japanese katana held in a later leather sheath. The nakago (tang) is signed ‘Tanba no Kami Yoshimichi’ (丹波守吉道). The sword is held in a later leather covered wooden sheath. The wooden handle is affixed with a fuchi hilt collar with a floral motif.

Condition

- extensive wear to the blade, not in polish. Stains, scratches, and other surface wear. Signature is clear and visible.
- leather on sheath is intact and in good condition, other sword mountings are missing.
- extensive wear to later wooden handle, flaking to finish, sword fittings/mountings are missing.
