Hand-Knotted Indo-Persian Isfahan Wool Area Rug
Item Details
A hand-knotted Indo-Persian Isfahan area rug. This wool pile rug is rendered in a palette of cranberry, goldenrod, camel, wheat, olive, ebony, and custard. It commences with a floral medallion, flanked on four sides with palmette pendants. The field is densely populated with lancet leaves, flower heads, foliage, and palmettes over ebony. Framing the field are carnation meander guard and secondary borders, while the primary border displays a palmette grounded herati motif over cranberry. The rug is finished with overcast selvedges, a brief kilim skirt with lattice detailing, and long wool warp fringe. It is unlabeled.
