Hand-Knotted Nain Wool Round Area Rug
Item Details
A finely hand-knotted Persian area rug. This large round wool rug, likely from Nain, is crisply rendered in a palette of azure, powder blue, midnight blue, and ivory. It begins with an intricately detailed starburst medallion, which is grounded in ivory and shot through with shades of blue. The starburst rests on a powder blue-colored field populated with arabesqued vines, palmettes, flowers, and lancet leaves, the patterning becoming looser and more diffuse as it moves farther from the center of the medallion. The rug finishes with long, fine wool fringe. It is unlabeled.
