A hand-knotted Persian Luri pictorial rug. This rug displays a central medallion featuring peacock, bird and other animal imagery in a palette of red, slate, camel, ivory and rust. There are four borders, the innermost having a bird head design, surrounded by a rectilinear border, floral border and a final, narrow geometric border. The rug is finished with overcast selvedges and natural warp fringe.
