An assortment of five etchings with aquatint on paper board including the titles Breeze, Street in Prague, Old Bridge Penn and After the Storm by listed artist Robert Whitmore (Ohio; 1890-1979), dated early 20th century. The pieces depict various landscapes featuring architectural and coastal scenes rendered with intricate detailing. The works titled Old Bridge, Penn and Street in Prague are signed and dated to lower margins’Robert Whitmore 1921’ to the lower margins. The compositions are marked with the artist’s estate stamp to the verso and presented unframed.

Robert H. Whitmore was a painter, printmaker and draughtsman born in Dayton, Ohio on February 22, 1890. Whitmore studied at the Art Institute of Chicago and the Cincinnati Art Academy, deriving his impressionistic style from the artistic movement of the time. Whitmore preferred to work directly from nature, believing that it produced an honest interpretation of the world around us. In the 1920s, Whitmore began teaching at the Dayton Art Institute before settling into a position at Antioch College for thirty years.
