1945 Kataro Shirayamadani Rookwood Pottery Vase

Item Details

A 1945 Rookwood Pottery vase by Kataro Shirayamadani (Shirayamadani Kitarō 白山谷 喜太郎; 1865–1948). The vase is in an urn shape with small raised neck, rounded shoulder and flush base. The vase is in a pale cream matte glaze, decorated with light salmon poppies with celadon green leaves, and accented to the top with a blue glazed lip. The vase is marked with the Rookwood flame double R logo marked pressed to underside of base as well as model number 6878 and Roman numerals XLV (1945). The vase is additionally signed by Kataro Shirayamadani with the impressed artist’s monogram to the verso.
