An oil on canvas horse portrait titled Riva Ridge by listed American artist Lucian Lupinski ( 1918- 2002). The painting shows the horse in a mahogany brown with highlights in pink against an abstract background of navy, sky blue, seafoam and pink. It is signed in the lower right and inscribed ‘Riva Ridge – won 1972 Kentucky Derby & Beaumont Stakes’. It is framed in a deep gold tone wooden frame.

Raised in Ohio, Lucian Lupinski studied at Ohio State University, the Grand Central School of Art, the Art Students League in New York, and the American Academy of Art in Chicago. He was an artist-in-residence for The Saturday Evening Post. His murals can be found in the Toledo Cathedral, the Museum of Art and Industry in Chicago, and religious buildings in eastern U.S. states.
