Antique Ansonia Red Velvet and Enameled Mantle Clock
Item Details
An antique Ansonia mantle clock, circa 1882. This clock features a red velvet covered case, with the velvet being held in place by applied cast brass finished foliar and avian decorative embellishments. The beautiful enameled and embossed brass dial features Roman numerals flanked on each side by red fleur de lis elements, with the center having a fleur de lis and foliate embossed detail, and with decorative hands all encased by a beveled glass crystal. There are two key arbors at four and seven o’clock. The brass works are time and strike movement in brass, marked ‘Patented June 13, 1882/ Ansonia Clock Co., New York, U.S.A.’ The clock rests on four elaborate lion head cast metal feet. Key is present, with pendulum marked ‘S F’.
