Hand-Knotted Pakistani Wool Area Rug
Item Details
A hand-knotted Pakistani area rug. This wool pile rug is rendered in a palette of blush, sage, cornflower, olive, umber, wheat, and custard. It commences with an implied quatrefoil medallion, comprised of a central diamond and delicate floral and foliate swags. The field is densely populated with a Persian-style garden design of scrolling patterns, purling vines, racemes, and clusters of flower heads and framed by compound guard and secondary borders featuring floral meanders. A wide primary border mirrors the field pattern in complementary colors over custard. The rug is finished with overcast selvedges, a brief kilim skirt, and wool warp fringe. It retains a manufacturer’s label to the reverse.
