Antique French Japy Freres Sevres Style Brass and Porcelain Mantel Clock
Item Details
An antique French Japy Freres Sevres-style brass and porcelain mantel clock. This ornate clock has a gilt brass case accented with acanthus leaves and rising on four scrolled feet. The case also features hand-painted porcelain plaques, with the main front piece depicting a Victorian Era couple, along with a floral piece, and topped with a bell shaped finial, each framed in a sky blue tone. The porcelain clock face depicts a central image of a cottage, while displaying black Roman numerals, metal hands, and two key arbors. The verso is open and reveals the clock mechanism that is marked ‘Japy Freres’. There are indiscernible markings around the back opening, and to the interior on the porcelain plaques.
