A 1950s graphite portrait on paper of a woman by listed Polish-American artist Vincent Nesbert (1898 – 1976). This bust portrait features a three-quarter view of a woman in posh attire. Signed ‘V. Nesbert’ to the lower right, the work is presented under glass with white matting and housed in a gold-tone wood frame. An inscribed descriptive label is adhered to the verso.

Vincent Nesbert emigrated to the United States from Poland in 1914. Based in Pennsylvania, he studied the Carnegie Institute of Technology and the National Academy of Design. In 1928 he joined the Art Institute of Pittsburgh, where he later served as the dean. Known for his portraits and figural works, he was also a prominent member of the Associated Artists of Pittsburgh.

- some wear in frame includes stains, scratches, and finish loss scattered throughout; some residue scattered throughout glass.
