An assortment of graphite and ink drawings on paper by Contemporary Chicago artist Kathleen Zien (20th century). Featured are figural studies, floral depictions, and pattern designs as well as cartoon characters. A few of the works are signed ‘K. Zien’ to the lower corners. All works are presented unmounted and unframed.

Kathleen Zien received her formal training in weaving at the Riverbend Art Center located in Dayton, Ohio. Later she went to Chicago for additional courses on the mechanics of warping and threading a loom. Zien is best known for her fringed, beaded, and stuffed wall hangings. Aside from weaving Zien has also taught elementary and junior high level art courses in Illinois. While there she earned the Governor’s Award for the Arts for an art elective program she lead in public and private elementary schools. Zien has also taught weaving classes at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio.

- toning is present throughout the works; fold and creases are present to a few of the compositions.
