A limited edition serigraph on paper titled Yellow Mandala by well-listed American artist Clarence H. Carter (1904 – 2000), created in 1969. This abstract work features overlapping circles and ovoid shapes in various sizes and yellow hues, accented with a small orange circle in the center. The work is numbered 22 out of an edition of 65 in white pencil to the lower left. It is signed by hand and dated to the lower right. Presented under glass, it is housed in a silver-tone metal frame. A descriptive label from Henri Gallery is adhered to the verso.

Born in Ohio, Clarence Holbrook Carter studied at the Cleveland School of Art and abroad in Italy under Hans Hofmann. He served as the Director of the Federal Art Project for Northeastern Ohio, and later taught at the Carnegie Institute. Known for his use of precise form and geometric shapes, Carter’s interest in the egg-shaped ovoid began in the 1960s which were exhibited in his Mandalas series. His work has been collected and exhibited by numerous institutions including the Museum of Modern Art, the Corcoran Gallery of Art, and the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, among others.
