An Op-Art artist’s proof serigraph on paper titled Orfeo II by listed American artist Henry Pearson (1914 – 2006). This work features a large orange circular filled with a matrix of blue squiggled lines of various adjacencies. The work is signed by hand in graphite to the lower right; it is titled and inscribed ’Artist’s Proof’ in graphite to the lower left. A blind stamp is present to the lower right. Mounted on a tan background, this work is presented under glass with tan matting and housed in a silver-tone metal frame. A label from Associated American Artists is adhered to the verso.

Inspired by mapmaking, Henry Pearson was an Op artist born in North Carolina. He received his B.A. at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and his M.F.A. at Yale University School of Drama. Years after graduating, he studied at the Art Students League in New York under Will Barnet. His work has been collected by numerous prestigious institutions including the Museum of Modern Art, the Guggenheim Museum, and the National Gallery of Art, among many others.
