A mid 20th-century watercolor painting on paper by listed American western artist Stanley M. Long (1892 – 1972). This high-action illustration features a cowboy riding a horse leaping over a fence. No visible signature was found on the work. Presented under glass with beige matting, it is housed in a gold-tone gesso and wood frame with low-relief foliate molding. A short bio of the artist is adhered to the verso.

Stanley Long received his art training at the San Francisco Art Institute, the California College of Arts and Crafts, and the Académie Julian in Paris. He is best known for his watercolor paintings depicting American western subjects. Several of his illustrations were featured in publications such as Sunset Magazine and the Los Angeles Times. His work has been collected and exhibited by De Young Museum, Oakland Museum, and Shasta City Museum, among other institutions.
