A hardcover bound collection of Elbert Hubbard’s The Philistine: a Periodical of Protest, Volume XI, with six issues from June-November 1900 compiled in one bound volume. Elbert Hubbard was the founder of the Roycroft artisan colony, and the Philistine is printed and bound by the Roycrofters. W.W. Denslow, who later illustrated the Wizard of Oz books, was an artist at the Roycroft community, and designed the seahorse logo used in the Philistine. This edition is bound in a brown cloth hardcover with stamped and gilt lettering, with an applied label to the spine, and with deckle page edges.
