A pair of 1857 antique McGuffey school readers in hardcover, including the Sixth Eclectic Reader and the New High School Reader. William McGuffey (1800-1873) created the first widely used series of standard school textbooks in America. These volumes are bound in brown cloth hardcovers with leather spine veneers, and are published in Cincinnati by W.B. Smith & Co. and Sargent, Wilson & Hinkle respectively.

Condition

- moderate cover wear, cracked front hinge to Sixth Eclectic Reader, spine chipping to both, bumped corners, scattered foxing and stains to Sixth Eclectic Reader.
