Item Details
A pair of antique Victorian Renaissance Revival walnut and parcel-gilt side chairs, third quarter 19th century. The frames feature arched crests, which are carved and incised with stylized shells and geometric motifs, above pierced splats with drapery and floral swags. The carvings are embellished with gilt accents and the spring-filled seats are upholstered in later, multicolored fabric. The chairs rise on trumpet-turned, front legs centered by bowed, shell-carved seat rails.

- to fair; both with scattered/small chips and scuffs as well as some glue reinforcements to leg/seat rail joints; one with a repair to top of front, left leg; other chair missing right finial and with a slightly larger chip to crest and to top block of front, left leg; upholstery is later.
