A late 19th century two volume set contains Volumes I through IV of The Land We Live in a Pictorial and Literary Sketch Book of the British Empire published by Charles Knight, London. No date is presented on the books and each book contains two volumes. Both of the books are profusely illustrated with engraved frontispiece, engraved title-pages, with numerous engraved plates and many full page and text illustrations. The books are bound in half- brown leather with black and red detailing and gilt text on the spines. Inscriptions in ink and a personalized book plate are present on the front end papers of each volume.

Condition
The book that contains Volumes I & II has lost it’s back cover. The leather spine on the book that contains Volumes III & IV has a torn section of the spine. Both have yellowing and foxing.
