Hand-Knotted Indian "Silk Highlights" Wool Area Rug by Kalaty
Item Details
A hand-knotted Persian Silk Highlights area rug from Kalaty’s ‘Tabriz Collection’. This wool pile rug is worked in an abrashed colorway of camel, umber, gold, emerald, cornflower, and ivory. It commences with an eight-point medallion, infilled with floral and palmette motifs and grounded by a sixteen-point halo. The field is densely populated with purling vines, foliage, floral sprays, palmettes, and arabesqued swags of lancet leaves.
Framing the field are floral guard borders, oak leaf and palmette secondaries, and a primary border comrpised of a stylized herati motif over ivory. The rug is finished with overcast selvedges and wool warp fringe. A label to the reverse reads ‘Made in India’ and ‘Free of Child Labour’.
