A Bösendorfer Upright 130 polished ebony piano and stool. The highly coveted piano was crafted in Austria with attention to every detail. Bösendorfer is the only piano manufacturer to apply an independent Capo d’Astro in the upper register, the unique bass strings have a steel core and two layers of copper and the whole body of the piano supports the sound formation making each note played acoustically active and resonating through the entire body of the piano. The serial number for the piano is 7308-35928 indicating it was completed in 1983.
Bösendorfer pianos have been handcrafted and refined in Austria by several generations of expert craftsmen since 1828, one of the oldest piano companies in the world. The exclusive pianos are renown for their unmistakable sound and impeccable tone quality which is due in large part to the amount of naturally dried spruce wood used to create each piano. The spruce is grown at a specific altitude ensuring a dense grain and harvested only in the winter when the sap production is lowest. Only after a long natural drying process, up to five years, is the wood then used in 80% of the construction of the piano which is unlike any other piano manufacturer. Taken this process into consideration, Bösendorfer pianos can take up to six years to produce and only several hundred are completed per year.
