1938/1910 Cincinnati Reds Historical Reference Metal Sign From The Reds COA

Item Details

A large impressive metal exhibit sign from Great American Ball Park. This display sign presents the years 1938 and 1910. A native of Cincinnati, President William Howard Taft is depicted throwing out the first presidential pitch in 1910 on one side. The other side features Reds pitching legend Johnny Vander Meer hurling ‘back-to-back or consecutive no-hitters’ in 1938. Johnny Vander Meer’s feat has never been achieved by another pitcher, with box scores from both games presented on this exhibit sign. Johnny’s second no-hitter came against the Brooklyn Dodgers; their ‘First Night Game Ever Played At Ebbets Field.’ Hanging from outside historic Riverfront Stadium for many years, this historic sign greeted baseball fans. A letter of authenticity from the Cincinnati Reds Hall of Fame Museum accompanies this item.
