A girls’ circa 1940s vintage handwoven silk crepe miyamairi infant kimono, hand decorated with yuzen resist dyed design and surihaki metallic silver leaf accents. This multicolored kimono features kamon, chrysanthemum, paulownia tree and kanoko motifs. It includes white kuchikigata pattern damask silk ties and is lined in off-white silk. Miyamairi, literally ‘shrine visit’, is a Shinto rite of passage for newborns. This kimono is worn around the children with the tabs used to wrap around the parent holding the child.
