Item Details
A finely hand-knotted Chinese Peking-style carved wool area rug. This rug is rendered in a palette of ivory, sapphire, powder blue, cornsilk, coral, apricot, sage, fern, and mocha. The ivory colored field features a sculpted central medallion formed by two crane motifs, while flanked by single crane motifs to each end. The field also features floral sprays, and blooms with curled leaves serving as the spandrels. Framing the field is a cornsilk grounded main floral designed border, along with a floral guard border, and solid strips to the exterior. Finishing this rug are overcast selvedges and a cotton kilim skirt with fine cotton warp fringe to the ends. It is unlabeled.
