From the studios of Visionaries + Voices – a non-profit organization that provides exhibition opportunities, studio space, supplies, and support to more than 125 visual artists with disabilities.

A pen and colored pencil drawing on paper titled Festival by Cincinnati-based artist Heidi Hamms (20th/21st century), created in 2015. This work features a complex network of intertwining designs, curving segments, and spiral delineations filled with various pastel hues. Signed to the lower center, the work is mounted on paperboard. To the verso is a descriptive label from Visionaries + Voices, a short bio of the artist, and a handwritten inscription providing information about the work. The drawing remains unframed.

Heidi Hamms explores themes of family relationships and personal memories through her “zentangle” drawings. She is sensitive to color as it relates to emotion and can exude serenity. Allowing her pen to guide her drawings through a stream of consciousness, Hamms discovers the subject of each piece during the process of creation instead of beforehand.
