From the studios of Visionaries + Voices – a non-profit organization that provides exhibition opportunities, studio space, supplies, and support to more than 125 visual artists with disabilities.

A mixed media drawing on mat board titled Lady Boss by Cincinnati-based artist Nikki Martin (20th/21st century), created in 2016. Comprised of watercolor, marker, and ink, this work features a fashion drawing of a woman wearing a blazer, a skirt, and high heels. No visible signature was found on the work. It is presented under glass in a white wood frame. A descriptive label and a frame label are adhered to the verso.

Considering fashion design an integral part of her identity, Nikki Martin produces large quantities of drawings influenced by contemporary and vintage designers every week. She primarily works in ink, marker, and watercolor. Most recently, Martin has developed a new technique to express different shades of marker by diluting the ink with a watered down paint brush. Garments from the artist’s House of Couture collection were featured in the What Matters Most fashion show in Fall 2009. A retrospective of her work was held at Visionaries + Voices in 2016.
